A CLEANER AND EASIER WAY WITH VAPOUR ABRASIVE BLASTING
What is Vapour Abrasive Blasting?
Vapour abrasive blasting equipment is the latest innovation in abrasive blasting. Vapour abrasive blasting is similar to dry blasting, except that the blast media is moistened prior to impacting the surface and creates up to 92% less dust. It removes coatings, contaminants, corrosion and residues from hard surfaces. Wet blasters can operate effectively at lower PSI, removing coatings without damaging the underlying substrate. Vapour abrasive blasting is a preferred method for blasting antique, fragile surfaces and soft surfaces (including wood). In addition, the presence of lubricating water reduces heat due to friction that can warp metal surfaces.
The main advantage of vapour abrasive blasting over dry blasting is that it reduces dust, permitting operators to work in an extensive range of environments with minimal setup and cleanup costs. Offering a cleaner, more consistent finished, ready to coat surface, with no embedded particles or clinging dust. Dust from dry blasting presents not only an inhalation health hazard, but severely limits visibility. Dry blasting operations must be separate from normal operations, wet blasters can work in close proximity with other workers with minimal precautionary measures.
Testing conducted by a third-party agency shows that vapour abrasive blasting suppresses up to 92% of dust compared to dry blasting. Because dust is minimized, less containment may be required and media clean-up time can be reduced. As it uses less water than slurry or other water-based technologies, pools of water aren’t left behind, and there is less need to worry about toxic runoff. The end result is a cleaner, better contained process.

BLASTING MATERIALS
Media & abrasives
Media refers to materials that do not create a surface profile upon impact. These include both inorganic and organic materials. Abrasives include any blast material that creates a surface profile (or anchor pattern) upon impact. Surface coatings adhere more strongly to profiled surfaces.
When abrasive blasting impacts a hard surface, the particle often breaks or shatters, propelling finer particles into the air as dust, and to dust already present in the dry media. This impact can also cause dry sparks charged with static electricity.
When wet abrasive impacts a surface, fine particles are sequestered in water droplets. The additional water weighs the particles down, preventing dust.
The presence of water also transfers more mass on the particle at impact. As the water droplet disperses, the hydrostatic force blasts away surface coating, leaving a feathered edge around the perimeter for seamless re-coatings.

Vapour Abrasive Blasting Applications
Blast Cleaning
Traditional high pressure blasting methods damage delicate surfaces, create dust, involve hours of containment and cleanup. Low pressure blasting methods don't have the power to remove many surface coatings and have lower production rates.
EcoQuip systems use advanced technology to bring the blasting industry the first system that can be used at pressures as low as 30 psi (2.1 bar) for delicate surfaces like sandstone and limestone or as high as 125 psi (8.7 bar) for stubborn surface coatings. Using a mixture of airflow, water and your choice of media, EcoQuip systems meet industry standards, involve little to no containment or cleanup and reduce 92 percent of airborne particles.
EcoQuip systems can remove splatters of bitumen, asphalt, concrete, chewing gum, paint and stucco from materials such as brick, roadways and concrete. EcoQuip Systems are also excellent for cleaning the equipment used for applying these materials. EcoQuip Systems are also well suited for cleaning mold, fungus, marine growth, leaching from the soil,
and rust. EcoQuip is the perfect tool for preparing surfaces for being painted or sealed, whether they need to just be cleaned or profiled for best adhesion.

Surface Preparation
EcoQuip is able to prep the surface and remove coatings that meet NACE and SSPC standards for the degree of cleanliness blasted steel. This includes commercial blast, NACE 3 and SSPC-SP6; near white metal blast, near white metal blast, NACE 2 and SSPC-SP10; and white metal blast, NACE 1 and SSPC-SP5.
With ultra-low dispersal characteristics, EcoQuip systems eliminate 92 percent of airborne particles and can be used almost anywhere, including enclosed spaces, or in locations that need less containment than if you were sandblasting. Because EcoQuip emits less dust than traditional dry blasting and uses less water than wet or slurrly abrasive blasting technologies, contractors can save time and money on clean-up and containment.

Spray Paint & Graffiti Removal
Traditional graffiti removal methods like chemicals and soda-blasting are not safe for the environment, killing surrounding vegetation. Pressure washing, chemical stripping, soda blasting, and sandblasting can destroy brick and remove mortar from walls. These methods also have poor production rates. This coupled with the damage to the sub-surface make these methods ineffective.
EcoQuip systems were built with a wide range of pressures to be utilised on gentler surfaces like brick, so paint can be stripped while protecting the sub-surface. EcoQuip systems can also remove paint layer by layer, so you can remove graffiti effectively even from painted surfaces like metal or wood signs.

Restoration
EcoQuip can clean old or new brick, block, and/or stone without opening up or causing damage to the face causing negative efflorescence, and zero discoloration or mottling. EcoQuip can also restore wood structures without damaging the wood or raising the grains.
EcoQuip removes coatings, rust, clean and polish old wrought iron, surface metals, statues, graves and head stones without causing damage or effecting the integrity of the surface. EcoQuip has the ability to remove mold, grime, surface dirt and corrosion gently without damage, while restoring and protecting the character of artifacts.
All applications can be accomplished without causing any damage to the landscape or vegetation, as well as the surrounding surfaces.
